Flights between EU member states and non-EU countries
Due to the Stop-the-clock amendment that was adopted by the European Parliament in April 2013, flights coming in and leaving the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway are currently exempt from complying with the EU ETS.
This is to allow for a global approach to be implemented by ICAO in autumn 2013.
This exemption is temporary since in the case that ICAO will not make significant progress the obligation for non-EU flights will be reintroduced for 2013. To follow the recent developments regarding the stop-the-clock proposal please visit our news section or subscribe to our newsletter.
